hello again.
i am safe and sound, i appreciate everyone’s concern. it was strange being here during such a crazy time, but it seems to be under control now. school begins monday, which should be interesting because Kibaki announced that secondary education would be free. currently, my school Mshimba Secondary, costs 10,000 KsH a year, so many people cannot afford to go, class size was around 30 but i expect to see a large jump monday. also of interst is that kibaki may not even be president, so maybe this will only be for a week or two, i also don’t think there is much of a plan on how the government will afford to fund this. but, i will be there teaching whoever shows up. i don’t have much else to add now, i put up a page about politics if you’re interested. love you all. bob

HI, Bob! thank heavens things there have eased up, and you’ll be able to start school tomorrow. I pray the tentative peace continues there. With an unknown number of students arriving, I wish you tons of luck! What age will these students be? You’ll have quite a job sorting them out, I am sure. We are expecting a major snowstorm tonight into tomorrow…just as the last of our snow had finally melted! The past week gave us a taste for spring…but mother nature has other plans. Take care…you will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers! love, Eileen

Hi Bob!
It is so good to hear from you! We wish you luck tomorrow, and know that whether you are teaching 30 or 100 kids, they will be better for having you touch their lives. I am dying to hear all about your classes, and the kids you are teaching. Will they be all ages? Will you be limited in the subjects you teach?
Know that we are keeping you and all of Kenya in our prayers, and miss you. We are so proud of you! God Bless.
Love and Hugs,
Tom and Barb

yo bob, i just got back from the everglades….sooo amazing. i spent 10 days in a tent so my back is a little sore, but the experience was sick…a little less intense as yours but give me a break haha. i got so close to gators, and was able to catch lizards. i tocuhed a bird and as soon as i did it turned and pooped on me, so that was pretty funny. another day we went kayaking in the ocean and of course i capsized. the crazy thing was as soon as i got back into the kayak, 2 hammerhead sharks swam under it. i was almost bait! the other days were spent researching…and tanning…haha. the fire ants were pretty bad, and i still have blisters from them, because they would get into the tents at night and bite. the best part of the trip was this one day where we did a mud walk and trecked through alligator swimming areas, and then later in the day we canoed through mangroves, which was quite the experience. i kept in touch with mom and dad during the trip to see how things were with you, and im glad to hear that you are alright. i miss you so much and will talk to you soon. peaceee
love you, dii xoxo

Hi Bob,
We’re so glad that all is well in your village. We’ve been keeping the news vigil and Alyssa has been updating us daily. We hope that peace will prevail and you’ll be able to focus on your teaching. I’m sure you must be very excited about starting school. I know I always have sleepless nights before the first day of every school year. I can’t wait to hear all about your students, from what I have read the people of Kenya take schooling very seriously so it would be great if they all had an opportunity to attend. You are always in our thoughts and prayers. Stay safe and be smart.
Love
