another day, another post

December 18, 2007

so titles are the hardest part of this blog for me.
anyway. the volunteer in Voi, greg, is helping me get the photo up finally, but its not easy with such slow internet. things are gonig well, it doesn’t seem like its almost xmas because its soo hot. i am doing my best to integrate into the community but its hard. my kiswahili is improving and so is their english. school begins january 7 and runs in three terms. Term 1 is january until march, april is a month off, term 2 is may to july, august is off, and term 3 is september to november.
i’m excited to begin teaching and to get some work done, now i’m relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
my address is box 783, Voi 80300, kenya. please send letters but not packages. packages are too expensive to pay the tariffs.
talk to you all soon.

Do you have to pay tariffs on padded envelopes or just boxes? I’m glad you were able to post a picture… I forget that you are so far away! The weather is starting to cool off here, today it is in the 50s but still much warmer than CT. I look forward to talking to you again soon! Love you!

hey bob! nice picture, you’re looking good. it was awesome to be able to chat the other day, made me laugh real hard. nothing is really happening here, i gave dad the santa foot for his b-day and he loves it. but it doesn’t beat the box of half eaten chocolates from the previous one. i’m finally all caught up on your life from reading all the letters, and i died laughing when i read your note to francis anne, about how she can’t go there and she should be proud to be an American. haha, still gets me. what a riot. well, keep in touch, love and miss you so much!
buds forever more, THE poocher xoxo

HI, Bob! I loved your picture with your friends. So glad to hear of your doings. Sounds like you are fairly acclimated to the area now. Today, Dec 23, it is rainy and foggy…I fear our white Christmas is in jeopardy…no matter, as long as we can drive to Sarah’s for the Big Day with Jack! He does not really know what it is all about, but he loves all the decorations. In the meantime, I will keep you in my prayers at Christmas Mass…bless you for the job you are doing over there. love and Merry Christmas! Eileen
